Frequently Asked Questions
How much
does decorative painting cost?
Basic glazes are $2.50 per square foot. If base painting is needed, the cost for glazing is additional to that. Plasters, Textures and other specialized techniques range in price from $4.50 - $7.00 per square foot.
What do you
mean by “custom” painting?
We mix our own glazes using a variety of pigments. We can match your upholstery, draperies, or other hues in your space to create a custom finish.
What is the
start-to-finish process like?
It depends on what your needs and desires are.
For some we begin by sending you home with magazines to peruse to
help you get a sense of style and what look you are going for.
After we have selected a color palette and style, we look at your
existing space and begin the investigative process of choosing finishes
to compliment both. Samples
are then created on 2’ x 2’ boards.
Once they are approved, the exciting work of transforming your
space begins!
Is there a
cost for samples?
Yes. The cost per sample is generally $40.00, unless a custom design is requested, which would cause the cost to be more. If the sample is approved, the $40.00 is deducted from the final invoice.
What is
‘decorative concrete’?
Our process around decorative concrete begins with using pigments to actually tint the concrete. Any design can be incorporated into the concrete, from medallions to business logos. Multiple colors can be layered to create a sophisticated finish with depth and interest.
What is the
cost of decorative concrete?
Decorative concrete begins at $6.00 a square foot. When creating intricate ‘concrete carpets’ with many colors, the cost per square foot ranges up to $25.00 per square foot.
Can
decorative concrete be used outside?
Yes, it is an interior/exterior finish.
Is
decorative concrete hard to keep up?
It’s very easy to keep clean and the durability is extraordinary. Because we tint the concrete, the color and design is right in the concrete itself so it doesn’t fade or chip. When used on an interior floor, there are five layers of top coat applied. We suggest reapplying one layer of top coat per year to ensure durability. Day to day cleaning consists of using a mop with water and mild detergent, if necessary.
I hate my
laminate countertops! Can
they be painted?
Decorative concrete is the ideal solution for laminate countertops. Colors can applied for a solid color appearance or several colors can applied for more interest. Countertops can be made to look like tile or incorporate other patterns from your space for a pulled together look.
Where do the
designs come from?
We do have product catalogs with ready made designs from you to choose from. We also pull a lot of inspiration from historical decorative ornament. We have photos, and books to pull designs from and can ‘cut and paste’ an original design. Often times when looking through our clients collections we are inspired to sketch a design to use.
